How many times have we worn masks to meet others’ expectations while feeling deep inside that they don’t fit us?
How many times have we acted—or postponed our lives—waiting for the right moment, social acceptance, or an external sign to validate us? We do what we do…but why? We wait as long as we wait…but why?

Description

Social influence shapes our thoughts, emotions, and choices daily. From the moment we are born, we grow up within a web of relationships and values that define and guide us. Social norms, the expectations of those around us, and our need for acceptance significantly affect how we perceive ourselves and the world.

But as we grow, to what extent does this “socially correct” align with what we truly want? And when does social influence turn into a trap?

Despite our preconditioned experiences, individual agency is not doomed to remain captive to unconscious mechanisms. On the contrary, human consciousness possesses the ability of self-observation and critical thinking—tools that can serve as means of liberation from the bonds of conformity.

Within this framework, in March 2025, a Dramatherapy group will begin—a 12-week series of sessions aimed at identifying the social forces that constrain us. Drawing inspiration from Samuel Beckett’s iconic play Waiting for Godot, we will create a space to explore these social bonds that prevent us from acting, keep us immobilized, and deprive us of joy.

In other words, we will examine the social influences shaping our choices and seek ways to free ourselves from their unnecessary demands. Using Waiting for Godot as a foundation, we will search for our most authentic selves and invite them to express themselves.

The meetings will be experiential, allowing us to experiment both individually and collectively.
