Unrol(l)ing: Building a role from scratch

Workshop Description

How easy is it, really, to develop a role from scratch?
What does it mean to intuitively embrace a role?
How do I find the comfort to improvise in the shoes of this role?

Role emergence experimentation is a process in which one explores and experiments with various roles and identities to discover the complexity of oneself and develop new dimensions of personality.

This experimentation, according to Dramatherapist Robert Landy, is an experience aimed at the individual’s development concerning how they take on different roles in their life.

In other words, Dramatherapy can help individuals discover who they are and how they define themselves through the acceptance of different roles.

In this workshop, we will use dramatic and drama-therapeutic techniques and exercises to promote the emergence of a role.

Afterwards, we will experiment with the qualities and characteristics of the role we are negotiating in our lives at this moment.

We will experiment both individually and in groups.

The Facilitators

Vasiliki is a Social Scientist and a soon-to-graduate Drama Therapist who enjoys expressing herself through art. She loves inviting adults to explore their emotions through physical expression and activities such as role-playing, improvisations, script creation, and more.

Evika is a graduate of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a soon-to-graduate Drama Therapist at the Athyrma Institute. She has worked psycho-pedagogically and recently started conducting sessions with adults, using the principles and techniques of Drama Therapy.

Vasiliki and Evika are close friends who co-created the CineDramatic Method. By combining the techniques of Drama Therapy with the cinematic context of filmmaking, they invite individuals to approach and process, in a unique way, the needs and desires they currently have in their daily lives.
