Start of a 35-Session Dramatherapy Circle

“I know who I am.”
“I don’t recognize myself.”
“Why did I do/say that?”

How often have we heard or said these phrases in our everyday lives, and what do they truly mean?

How many times do we notice new aspects of ourselves emerging, older versions of ourselves transforming, and what attitude do we hold toward them?

Group Objective

Using Dramatherapy techniques, the group members will have the opportunity to approach and process, in a different way, the needs and desires they are experiencing in their daily lives at this moment.

The Method of Drama Therapy

Dramatherapy is a comprehensive psychotherapeutic approach that falls under the umbrella of Art Therapies. Through symbolic distance, it provides a transitional space where relationships (with oneself and with others) are mediated through roles, texts, myths, and other artistic materials.

As a psychotherapeutic approach, it functions both individually and in groups, utilizing the dynamics of theatre, art, and metaphor*.

The concept of metaphor refers to a figure of speech where a subject is replaced by another subject with which it is not meaningfully connected. Jacques Lacan, influenced by linguistics, believed that the unconscious is directly expressed through the use of metaphorical language.

Metaphor, therefore, is an essential prerequisite for both artistic creation and any therapeutic process and serves to maintain emotional and psychological functioning.

The aim of this Dramatherapy group is to offer participants the opportunity to explore different shades of their personality, bring to the surface familiar and unfamiliar pieces of themselves and their personal history, and discover new ways of negotiating and dealing with their everyday experiences.

The group is intended for adults, will have a limited number of participants (with a maximum of eight), and will take place once a week. Before the group starts, an individual session will be held with each interested member, and the group’s composition will remain closed until the end of the 35 sessions.
